Your Health
At Sanofi, our principal area of business is ethical pharmaceuticals. Our primary goal is to find treatments to prevent, combat and eradicate diseases around the world and provide therapeutic and preventive solutions for populations in both industrialised and developing countires.
Our core therapeutic areas are cardiovascular disease and thrombosis; diseases of the central nervous system; oncology; internal medicine; and metabolic disorders.
In addition, we are working on treatments particularly geared to help populations in developing countries. One such example is our Impact Malaria programme.
Metabolic disorders
Diabetes mellitus is a common condition where there is too much of the sugar called glucose in the blood, because the body is unable to convert it into energy in the normal way. This is because not enough insulin is produced by the body or the body does not respond to insulin adequately (insulin resistance).
Thrombosis
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), which is the obstruction of a vein by a blood clot, is the third most common cardiovascular disease in the western world and affects approximately 1.5 million Europeans each year [1].
Cardiovascular
As one of the main causes of death and acquired disability, cardiovascular disease is a major healthcare priority throughout the industrialised world.
Central Nervous System
Our research and development division is committed to discovering new products that will make a difference in people's lives.
Internal Medicine
Internal medicine is the practice of preventing and treating general diseases. Our Internal Medicine portfolio includes a treatment for osteoporosis, infections and benign prostate hypertrophy.
Oncology
Our Sanofi oncology division plays a daily role in bringing hope into the lives of Irish cancer sufferers and their families with drugs, such as Taxotere and Eloxatin, treating Ireland’s most prevalent solid cancers – i.e. breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer and prostate cancer
